Asian Handicap Betting
May 15, 2019 | In: Asian Handicap
The Asian Handicap is the name of a variant of normal handicap bets but destined to bet on football matches.
It is very popular in Asia (hence its name) and works in a very similar way as it does in betting with handicap, in which two teams have a series of handicap points (handicap) that are added to them, or subtracted if that were the case, to your score at the end of the match.
Due to the low score of football matches, if we compare it with other sports specialties such as rugby or basketball, this disadvantage (handicap) is defined in smaller intervals.
The odds on Asian Handicap bets are always shown with decimal numbers.
Half and whole handicaps
The handicap for each team can be half of a number or the corresponding integer. With the decimal numbers means (0,5 – 1,5 – 2,5 etc) a tie is impossible. For example,
Chelsea (-1.5) vs Portsmouth (+1.5). When the handicap is represented by a whole number, the tie is possible.
Chelsea (-2) vs Portsmouth (+2). Bets will be returned if a draw occurs. Recall that the final result of the game occurs after applying the handicap.
Each team can have their handicaps distributed, and in this case they are given two each: full goal and a half goal.
Chelsea (-1, -1.5) vs Portsmouth (+ 1, + 1.5). In this example, the bet should be applied equally to the two handicaps. Below are more examples and prize scenarios.
Example 1: Chelsea (-1.5) v Portsmouth (+1.5).
If Chelsea wins by at least two goals difference, also wins after applying the handicap. If Chelsea wins by one goal difference, draw or lose, Portsmouth wins after applying the handicap.
Example 2: Chelsea (-2) v Portsmouth (+2)
If Chelsea wins by at least three goals difference, also wins after applying the handicap. If Chelsea wins by two goals difference, the thing is in a draw after applying the handicap and all bets will be returned. If Chelsea wins by one goal, draw or lose, Portsmotuh wins after applying the handicap.
Example 3: Chelsea (-1, -1.5) vs Portsmouth (+1, +1.5)
The bet is divided between the two handicaps of each team and, therefore, the bet is divided into two. That is, 1 dollar wagered, becomes 0.5 $ for each handicap.
If Chelsea wins by at least two goals difference, also wins after applying the handicap. If Chelsea wins by one goal, they lose the bet of -1.5 and tie the bet of -1.
This last half of the bet will be returned. If Chelsea draw or lose, Portsmouth wins the two parts of the bet.
