San Lorenzo coach Ramon Diaz has affirmed that he is pleased with how his charges are progressing in 2011, but also that the Cuervo cannot yet be considered candidates for the Clausura title.
Juan Manuel Salgueiro’s late goal on Saturday gave the side a 1-0 victory away to previous leaders Olimpo, which pushed San Lorenzo to second in the table with a game in hand over current top dogs Estudiantes. But ‘El Pelado’ tried to deflect attention from his high-flyers, and named three teams above his own in 2011.
“The serious candidates are Estudiantes, Velez and River. We are getting better and better, but we have to improve a couple of things still, like the definition of our chances,” Diaz told a press conference at the club on Tuesday afternoon. However, the coach did admit that he was delighted with his club’s weekend triumph.
“The championship is in a crucial moment and the victory helped us to keep the group together… I don’t think there is another club that plays like us, we are risk-takers.”
