Schalke striker Raul insists he won’t abandon the club despite a turbulent 2010-11 season.
The Bundesliga club have struggled domestically and are currently mid-table following the departure of Felix Magath.
However, they are still involved in the Champions League and DFB-Pokal, and Raul is determined to see out his deal at the Veltins Arena.
Speaking to Bild, the former Real Madrid legend said: “I did not sign a contract with Magath, I signed with Schalke, and I want to remain until 2012. But of course everything depends on what the club wants.”
New boss Ralf Rangnick believes Raul just needs more supprt from his team following his 11 goals in 27 games for the Gelsenkirchen side.
“Raul is an extraordinary player. But it’s neccessary that the rest of the team helps him on the pitch,” said the coach.
Raul signed for the club on a free transfer last summer after becoming Real Madrid’s record goalscorer in a trophy-laden spell at the Spanish giants.
