Palermo captain Fabrizio Miccoli has explained he’s fully aware of how important the Sicilian derby against Catania is to the club’s supporters and stated he will do everything in his power to bring home three points at the weekend.

The Rosanero are set to lock horns with their bitter rivals at the Stadio Massimino on Sunday and the 31-year-old is keen for his side to come out as the victors in what is always an intense affair.

“We know how important the derby is to our fans,” he stated during a press conference on Tuesday. “We all want to put in a good performance and make our supporters happy.

“I hope to repay the affection the fans have shown me with a goal on Sunday. We understand that we must show grit and determination in order to leave town with a positive result.”

Miccoli went on to highlight who he thinks the dangerman for Catania will be on Sunday afternoon.

“Maxi Lopez is definitely the player we must keep an eye on. We should not forget that he was decisive in the derby last season.”

Palermo are 11 points ahead of their rivals with eight matches left in the Serie A season.
