Denmark international Simon Kjaer could be on his way out of Wolfsburg at the end of the season as ambitious Italian side Roma are interested in signing the defender, Il Corriere dello Sport reports.
The Giallorossi are in the market for a new centre-half because of the departure of Philippe Mexes at the end of the season and they reportedly consider the 22-year-old to be a suitable replacement.
Kjaer started his professional career with Midtjylland and also wore the jersey of Palermo before joining Wolfsburg in the summer of 2010, where he has since become an important first team player at the Bundesliga side.
The stopper’s current contract with Wolfsburg runs until the summer of 2014, and an offer in the region of €15 million could be needed to lure the player from German football.
Aside from Kjaer, Roma are also keeping tabs on Arsenal’s Johan Djourou, Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic and Porto centre-back Nicolas Otamendi.
