Chilean teenage sensation Angelo Henriquez has spoken of his desire to join Manchester United, as the Universidad de Chile striker returns from an impressive performance in the South American U-17 Championship in Ecuador.
Although the Roja disappointed in the competition and went out in the first round, 16-year-old Henriquez was the stand-out talent as he found the net in three of his four appearances. His performances have piqued the interest of English giants United, who already have a first option on the youngster and are reportedly considering a €4 million move; something which the player admits would be a dream.
“Of course it is amazing that a team like Manchester United have taken an interest in me. They are a huge team at a world level and playing for them would be a dream come true,” Henriquez admitted to Triunfo on Tuesday evening. The player is yet to make his professional debut for the U however, and recognises that he may have to impress domestically before securing a move across the Atlantic.
“I know that if I want to be a footballer, I have to be very professional and not get caught up in the parties or the gossip columns, besides I don’t like that sort of thing,” the Santiago native explained.
“For now I am only thinking about the U, making my debut and performing; because Manchester United have told me that I have to start getting experience to make the move to England.”
Henriquez has already been to Manchester in order to train with the club, with the Red Devils’ first option valid until 2014.
